3 HIKES TO DISCOVER THE SURROUNDINGS OF THE PETINA HUT
Since so many of you asked us for walks that you can do nearby, here are three that you can do by leaving your car directly at the refuge!
I’ve created a map for each route on Outdooractive, that will help you find your way around, just click on the title of the route!
TOUR OF DAGNOLI AND RONZI MEADOWS ; A route of about 2 hours that remains fairly high (about 200 metres of altitude difference), we follow the path that leads towards San Martino di Castrozza, passing through the Dagnoli meadows to the Ronzi meadows, from there we return towards Siror along the asphalted road and then climb slightly towards the refuge, the route is mainly in the woods and crosses some suggestive stretches on the slopes of the Pale di San Martino.
ANDAR PER MASI ; (tour of the traditional huts) ; this route is always 2 hours and 250 metres in height difference, it runs mainly on an asphalted road through the most panoramic points of the area, passing through the Polina meadows (where along the road you will also find a large white boulder, ideal for taking a nice souvenir photo under the Pale di San Martino) to Maso Tais , then descending towards Siror (you will find a crossroads under Maso Tais near a large centuries-old beech tree) and returning to the Refuge following the Ronchetti road and the Pianezze locality .
COL DEI CISTRI RING-ROUTE ;This very suggestive ring-route of 3 hours and 450 metres in height difference allows you to see the surrounding area at its best, ranging from the Canali Valley to the Cismon Valley towards San Martino; You will have to follow the road almost as far as Maso Tais, where you will find an electric cabin with directions to Fosne , the suggestive meadow below the Cimerlo peak with its huts nestling around an ancient erratic boulder, after which you will continue on to Forcella del Col dei Cistri and down to Prasòrin , a critical point of the tour, as you will have to leave the signed path to take an old mule track that is well marked and follows old trenches now covered by the forest (you will have to cut across the meadow on the left to reach the only two huts on the edge of the forest, and from there the path will be well marked).
Last suggestive stretch just above the refuge is the Zicona locality at the end of the mule track, where there are large boulders dug out to shelter cannons during the Great War. From there, in 20 minutes you will reach Petina, following the signs for Siror and the refuge.
I always remind you to be prepared for your excursions, below are some tips that I have found very useful in preparing my excursions:
